Ingredients

  • For the base:
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup refried beans canned or homemade
  • 1 cup cooked ground beef seasoned with Taco Bell-style seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend cheese
  • For the sauce:
  • 1 small can of tomato sauce 8 oz
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • For the toppings:
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions
  • Sour cream optional
  • Jalapeños optional for added heat

Instructions

  • Prepare the tortillas:
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly fry the flour tortillas until they are golden brown and crispy. Set aside.
  • Make the Taco Bell sauce:
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, sugar, and salt.
  • Simmer on medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to blend the flavors.
  • Cook the ground beef:
  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Season with taco seasoning (store-bought or homemade). Drain excess fat if necessary and set aside.
  • Assemble the pizza:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place one crispy tortilla on a baking sheet and spread a layer of refried beans on top. Add a layer of seasoned ground beef over the beans.
  • Top with another crispy tortilla to create the double-layered base.
  • Top with sauce and cheese:
  • Spread a generous amount of the Taco Bell sauce over the top tortilla.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Bake:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Add final toppings:
  • Once the pizza is baked, remove it from the oven and top with diced tomatoes, black olives, and chopped green onions. Optionally, add sour cream and jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • Serve:
  • Slice the pizza into quarters and serve with your favorite sides like nachos or a side of guacamole.

Notes

  • You can make this recipe vegetarian by skipping the beef and adding more beans or using a plant-based meat substitute.
  • For a spicier version, feel free to add more chili powder or hot sauce to the Taco Bell sauce.
  • If you prefer a crunchier base, bake the tortillas for a few minutes before adding the toppings.
