Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups 12-ounce package Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: The first step is preheating the oven to a temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt for now.
  • Cream Butter and Sugars: In a big bowl, combine and thaw butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract till it is all blended and creamy.
  • Add Eggs: Like, break an egg, add it into the mixture and beat well. Do it for every egg you have.
  • Combine Ingredients: Beat in the flour mixture a little at a time until it is just moistened. If desired, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Scoop Dough: Take a rounded tablespoon of batter, make sure to lift the dough up and touch this on the ungreased sheets.
  • Bake: The Cookies are put to bake for 9-11 minutes in an oven. For softer cookies 9 minutes are sufficient; if you want crispier cookies, then bake for 11 minutes.
  • Cool: Finally, cool the cookies on the baking sheet for two minutes, lift the sheet and place them on wire racks to cool.

Notes

  1. Do not over mix the dough if you wish to have softer cookies and make sure to use room temperature butter.
  2. Even after the cookies are taken out of the oven, they will actually bake a little more while on the baking sheet, so take them out when they appear a little bit underdone in order to have cookies with a chewy center.
  3. You can freeze the cookie dough for three months. You should extend the cooking time by one minute if baking from frozen.
